If you are using Signature Touch with Solar Close Counter to collect signatures and are experiencing lock-ups after a recent Eclipse upgrade, the Chromium Browser setting in Solar Close Counter is likely the cause. Eclipse version 2025.2 includes an option to disable this setting and resolve the issue.
Why is this happening?
A recent Eclipse update enabled the Chromium Browser within Solar Close Counter to be used by default. For most Eclipse users, this change has no noticeable impact. However, for users who rely on Signature Touch with Solar Close Counter to collect customer signatures, the Chromium Browser setting causes a conflict with the signature collection workflow.
When the issue occurs, users will typically see the following:
- A customer completes and accepts a signature on the iPad in Signature Touch.
- The signature does not transfer back to the terminal device running Solar Close Counter.
- Solar Close Counter remains stuck on the "waiting for signature" screen and does not advance to the next step.
- The application becomes unresponsive, and the user must restart Solar Close Counter or log out of Eclipse and back in to recover.
This issue only affects users who are collecting signatures through Signature Touch using Solar Close Counter.
Resolution
Eclipse version 2025.2 introduced the ability to disable the Chromium Browser within Solar Close Counter, which resolves the conflict with Signature Touch. If you have not yet upgraded to Eclipse 2025.2 or later, you will need to do so before following the steps below.
To disable the Chromium Browser and resolve the issue:
1. In Solar Close Counter, navigate to Close Counter Order > Signature Options > Chromium Browser Enabled.
2. Disable the Chromium Browser Enabled setting.
3. Go to File > Save Browser Setting.
4. Once saved, Solar Close Counter will retain the Chromium Browser as disabled going forward.
After completing these steps, the signature collection workflow between Signature Touch and Solar Close Counter should function normally. Signatures completed on the iPad will transfer back to the terminal as expected.
These steps will need to be completed on each terminal workstation where Signature Touch is used to collect signatures through Solar Close Counter.
Additional Information:
- This issue is specific to Signature Touch users collecting signatures through Solar Close Counter. Users who do not use Signature Touch are unaffected and do not need to make any changes.
- The option to disable the Chromium Browser is only available in Eclipse version 2025.2 and later.
