How do I create Drill Downs in Eclipse?

Accessing the Web Commerce Menu Items

Accessing the Web Commerce Menu Items

Creating and maintaining drill downs requires the Web Commerce menu in Eterm. This is usually found under the Custom Menu (F2-->C--W), but it may also be found under the User Custom Menu (F2-->R-->W). If you do not have the Web Commerce menu, please contact support@goinnovo.com.

The two Web Commerce sub-menu items used in this article are Web Drill Maintenance and Web Drill Template Maintenance (hotkey's D and T respectively).

Creating New Drill Down Entries

Creating New Drill Down Entries

From the Web Drill Maintenance menu, press D to enter WOE Drill Down Maintenance.

Navigate to an empty line, type NEW, then press the Enter key. The ID will auto-generate.

Type in the name of the new drill down entry (in this example, Test Kits), then press the Enter key.

To create a sub-drill under your new entry, press E (Expand) while on the line with the new drill entry. Continue adding any sub-drills as needed.

When you have reached the end of your new drill path and are ready to set up the products at the end of this drill, press E one more time.

Defining Products at the end of the drill down

Defining Products at the end of the drill down

From the empty WOE Drill Down Maintenance window, press M to enter Meta Information.

The WOE Drill Meta Information Maintenance screen allows the products that appear at the end of the drill to be defined by either Product Families or Keywords.

To use Product Families, enter FAM~ for the Meta ID and then press F10. A popup window will appear listing the existing Eclipse Product Families. Choose the correct one. The benefit of using Product Families is that is possible to control exactly which products show up at the end of the drill and the order in which they appear.

Note: In Product Family Maintenance, the Branch must be set to "ALL". If you want to limit products from showing for certain branches, you can set the Accessible Branches at the Price Line level or the individual Product level.

To use product keywords to determine which products are at the end of a drill, enter !KEYWORD for the Meta ID, press Enter, then enter a keyword. NOTE: With keywords, the order products appear in the app is determined by the default Eclipse index on the PRODUCT file. In this case, there is no control over the exact order the products appear at the end of the drill down.

Continue adding any new Drill Downs needed. If you need to insert a drill press Alt-INS (Alt + the Insert key).

If you need to delete a drill, use Alt-DEL (Alt + the Delete Key). Keep in mind deleting drills only removes them from your drill downs, the drill ID’s, names, sub-drills, and Product Family ID’s or keywords associated with them remain in Eclipse and can be used again in either WOE Drill Down Maint or WOE Drill Template Maint.

Adding Products to Existing Drill Downs

Adding Products to Existing Drill Downs

From the WOE Drill Down Maintenance screen, move the cursor to the top-level drill that contains the products that need to be added. Press E to expand. If the top-level drill contains sub-drills, continue to expand them until you reach the end of the WOE Meta Information Maintenance screen.

Find and note the value on the right side as that is the product family where the products will be added.

Navigate to Product Additional (F1-->O in Eterm or Maintenance-->Product Additional in Solar).

Go into Product Family Maintenance.

NOTE: Make sure the Display in WOE option is checked.

Enter the value found in the WOE Meta Information Maintenance screen for the drill that needs products added, then press Enter.

NOTE: Make sure the Display in WOE option is set to Y.

All products within that drill down will be listed. NOTE: Products with an index of catalog may not be viewable in the App. There is a catalog control-file that controls if those products appear in WOE.

To add a new product, move the cursor into the product listing and add a line by pressing Enter, then search and add the new product in the empty line. NOTE: The listing displays products in the order they will show up in the App.

After any changes are made to the products that appear at the end of the drills, the drill downs must be recached.

In addition to adding products to product families, you can enter the following:

  • Price line (enter "Line~" + price line)
  • Product family (enter "&" + product family)
  • Keyword (enter "!" + keyword)

Recaching Drill Downs

Recaching Drill Downs

Any time you make changes to the drill downs or the corresponding product families or product keywords, you will need to rebuild the cache for them to take effect in OE Touch.

To recache, select Recache Drill Down Paths from the WOE Drill Maintenance menu item.

Type CONTINUE and press Enter.

NOTE: There is also a Re-Build Cache menu item in the WOE Drill Down Maintenance screen. DO NOT USE this to Re-cache drill downs.

Using Drill Templates

In addition to creating default drill downs that apply to all customers, it is possible to create drill down templates that can be applied at the customer level. This makes it possible to give a group of customers a specific drill down path. Note: This is really helpful when you have multiple companies or brands on the same Eclipse instance.

Drill downs must first be created in WOE Drill Down Maintenance screen before adding to the template. However, rather than use the main WOE Drill Down Maintenance screen off of the Web Commerce menu, we recommend using the WOE Drill Down Maintenance screen off of B2B/WOE Remote Order Entry Parameters in Customer Maintenance. You can load a test customer and create them there. This way the new drill downs for the template will not affect the main WOE drill down listing. Note: You can use existing drills in any template.

Create Any New Drill Downs Needed in Customer Maintenance

Create Any New Drill Downs Needed in Customer Maintenance

Go into Customer Maintenance in Eterm (F1-->C) and load a test customer. Press Alt-M followed by Alt-W to go reach the B2B/WOE Remote Order Parameters screen. Press Alt-D to reach the WOE Drill Down Maintenance screen.

Create new drill downs using the instructions above.

Creating a Drill Template

Creating a Drill Template

Go into the Web Drill Template Maint screen off of the Web Commerce menu (F2-->C-->W-->T).

Type NEW, press Enter, and then type in a name for the template.

Enter the existing drill using one of the following:

  • Drill ID prefixed with a period
  • First few letters of the drill description

Notice there is no Expand or Meta option on the WOE Drill Template Maintenance screen. That is because any sub-drills and meta information below each drill has already been set up when they were created in the WOE Drill Down Maintenance Screen. Thus, all you will need to do is enter the top-level drill.

Apply Drill Template to Customer

Apply Drill Template to Customer

To apply the drill template to a customer, start from the B2B/WOE Remote Order Entry Parameters screen, then move down to the Display ID field. Despite the name of this field, this is where you specify the Drill Template to apply to the customer. Press F10 to get a listing of the Drill Templates on your system. Select the template you want to use.

Customer-Specific Drill Downs

Customer-Specific Drill Downs

As mentioned in the Using Drill Templates section above, it is possible to create drill downs that can be applied at the customer level. This makes it possible to give a customer their own custom drill downs instead of the default WOE Drill Downs found under the Web Commerce menu options. Note: This is really helpful when you have multiple companies or brands on the same Eclipse instance.

The process of creating drill downs and adding products to them is the same as noted above in the Creating New Drill Down Entries and Adding Products to Existing Drill Downs instructions. The difference is that instead of starting from the Web Commerce menu to go into WOE Drill Down Maintenance, you start by first going into Customer Maintenance in Eterm and loading the customer you want to have customer drill downs. From there, press Alt-M (Remote), followed by Alt-W (WOE Info) and Alt-D (WOE Drills) to reach the WOE Drill Down Maintenance screen.

Note: As with any drill down changes or changes to product families that affect drill downs, you must recache drill downs afterward for them to take effect. See the Recaching Drill Downs section above for instructions.

Testing Drill Downs
