Android 6.x and App Permissions

With Android 6.x, Google changed how App permissions operate. The result is that users with Android 6.x devices may need to manually adjust the App's permissions if they are installing the app for the first time.

NOTE: This only applies to new app installations on Android 6.x. Users who are upgrading will not see this issue.

If you have a device with Android 6.x and are having trouble using the device's camera to scan product barcodes or take pictures in the app, cannot access the device's contacts when sending an email from within the app, or cannot get your device location when in the Branches screen, please check the App's Android permissions.

Checking App Permissions in Android 6.x

While these instructions are for a Samsung device with Android 6.0, all Android 6.x devices should be similar, even though the exact screens and text may differ.

To check and adjust the App's permissions in Android 6.x, open Android's Settings app, find and tap on Applications. Then tap on Application Manager and find and tap on OE Touch. In the Application info screen, tap on Permissions.

On the Permissions screen, enable the appropriate permissions.

  • Camera - needed to scan barcodes and take photos
  • Contacts - needed to access device contacts when sending an email from the app
  • Location - needed for the app to retrieve the device's location when on the Branches screen
  • Storage - needed for the app to take and save photos
