Smart Notifications

Watch our Video Tutorial on Smart Notifications here.

Smart Notifications allow you to send automated Push or SMS text notifications to your customers. Once you setup and enable them, they continue to be active and will send out the notifications whenever their conditions are met.

Setting up Smart Notifications is a three-part process. This article describes the process using the example of a Ship Ticket Print trigger.

Step 1: Create the Smart Notification Recipe

Click the yellow New Recipe button at the top left of the page. A new entry like the one shown above will be added to the page. If you have any existing Smart Notifications, the new entry will appear at the bottom.

1. By default, the Channel will be Eclipse.

2. Select a trigger. Not all triggers that exist in Eclipse are in this list -- we only list the ones that make sense as a notification.

3. Select the Ingredients.

  • Branch - enter a branch number, territory, or ALL. If you want to enter multiple branches, after you type in the first branch you will then be able to type in additional branches.
  • Ship Via - enter the ship via name as it appears in Eclipse. If you want to enter multipel ship vias, after you type in the first ship via you will then be able to type in additional ship vias.

4. Select an Action of Push or Text and then check Enabled if you want the Smart Notification to be active.

5. Click the blue page icon to enter or edit the message being sent in the smart notification.

6. When you are done making changes, click the green Save button to save the smart notification.

NOTE: After making ANY changes on the Smart Notifications page, click the green Save button.

Notification Message

Notification Message

Click the blue page icon to enter or edit the message being sent by the smart notification. You can use the following tokens in the message:

  •     @OID - Adds the order number to the message (this does not include the generation - use for open order notifications)
  •     @INVN - Adds the invoice number to the message (this is the sales order and generation number once the order is invoiced)
  •     @BRANCH - Adds the long description of the Ship branch to the message
  •     @PO - Adds the Customer Purchase Order of the order to the message

Step 2: Add Activity Trigger to Customer

Step 2: Set up the Activity Trigger in Customer Maintenance

Once you create the Smart Notification Recipe in the Portal, the next step is to setup a corresponding Activity Trigger for the customer in Eclipse.

In Customer Maintenance, load the customer you want to receive the Smart Notification. Go into Additional Info, then into Activity Triggers (Alt-A then Alt-T in Eterm). Enter the trigger type selected in your recipe for the Trigger Description. For Push notifications enter Innovo Push Notification for the Activity Description. For Text (SMS) notifications, enter Innovo SMS Notification. Note: Pressing F10 in both the Trigger Description and Activity Description fields will display a pick list with these options.

Note: You can set up the same trigger more than once if you want to have more than one activity for the trigger. For our example, the Mobile Order Entry Submit trigger is listed twice, once for the Innovo Push Notification and a second time to send the Innovo SMS Notification.

Step 3: PUSH - Enable Smart Notifications for Contact

Step 3: Enable Smart Notifications in Contact Maintenance

After setting up the Activity Trigger for the customer, the last step for PUSH notifications is to enable Smart Notifications for any of the customer's contacts that you want to receive them. To do so, load the contact in Contact Maintenance and the press Alt-F1 in Eterm, or Ctrl-F1 in Solar to load our Innovo Mobile Contact Authorizations UD screen and then Alt-N in Eterm or Ctrl-N in Solar to load our Innovo App Notifications screen Then, change the Order Notifications option from N to Y. If Smart Notifications should be limited to orders created via OE Touch, set the OE Touch Only option to Y.

Note: The contact can be tied to either the ship-to or bill-to of the order.

Step 3: SMS - Enter SMS Number for Customer

After setting up the Activity Trigger for the customer, the last step for Text notifications is to enter an SMS number to receive the notifications. To do so, load the customer in Customer Maintenance and the press Alt-F1 in Eterm, or Ctrl-F1 in Solar to load our Innovo Mobile Customer Authorizations UD screen. Enter the number in the Deliver Notification Number field.

NOTE: This is the same number used for Delivery Notifications.

We also have an optional Innovo Deliver Notification user defined screen that can be loaded off of Sales Order Entry. Details on setting up this screen on your system can be found here.
