Turn by turn navigation within the Deliver app is only available to our Route customers that have been approved for HERE routing. However, all Deliver customers can use Apple Maps, Google Maps apps, CoPilot, Hammer, and Sygic from Deliver itself. You can select the specific map app you would like to use in the Map Navigation setting in the Mapping settings section. We recommend using Google Maps and that requires you to download the Google Map app from the Apple app store prior to using Deliver.
Recommendations for Navigation:
- Make sure device is on iOS 9.x or greater (iOS 9 introduced the "back to App" button shown in the screenshots below.)
- Download the Google Maps App onto the device
- Set the Map Navigation setting to Google maps in Deliver
- Disable Guided Access mode in Apple Settings (if previously enabled)
To begin Turn-by-Turn navigation, press the green "Start Navigation" button while on the stop details screen. You will then be brought into the select map application on the device.
Google Maps Navigation
Please note: the first time Google Maps is launched, you may be required to accept the Location Services access prompt.
The Google Maps App will open displaying the route, in blue, the amount of time it estimates it will take to arrive, and the number of miles. To begin navigation, press the blue Start button.
Or, to see the turn-by-turn directions, press the Steps button.
The driver can then proceed to follow the navigation prompts to the destination. When they've arrived at their destination, it will say "You made it to...." and there will be a done button with a checkmark. Tap the button to complete the route.
To return to Deliver, you can then tap on the < Deliver text in the upper left corner at anytime. (This may say "Back to Deliver" in iOS 9.x or iOS 10.x)
You may end navigation at anytime prior to arriving at your destination by pressing the red Exit button at the bottom-right.
After you press Exit, you will be taken back to the main screen showing your route. To return to the Deliver app, press <Deliver in the upper-left corner or to restart navigation, press the blue Start button in the bottom right corner.
Apple Maps Navigation
Please note: the first time Apple Maps is launched, you may be required to accept the Location Services access prompt.
Apple maps opens with a view of the route, and on an iPad, a list of alternate routes to the left. On an iPhone the alternate routes are listed at the bottom and you can swipe up to view them.
Press the green GO button next to the desired route.
The driver can then proceed to follow the navigation prompts to the destination. Once you've arrived at your destination, press the red End button to exit navigation.
To return to Deliver, you can tap on the < Deliver text in the upper, left corner at anytime. (This may say "Back to Deliver" in iOS 9.x or iOS 10.x)
You may press the red End button to exit navigation at anytime prior to arriving at your destination.
To return to the Deliver app, press the <Deliver in the upper-left of the screen or to re-start navigation, press the blue Directions button and then press the green GO button next to the desired route.
Tips for Navigation
When navigation is in process, a blue bar will appear at the top of any app or on the home screen letting you know that Google Maps (or Apple Maps) is actively using your location. At any time, you can press on that blue bar to bring you back into the mapping app.
"< Deliver" Button Disappears
Simply double-tap the home button to re-select Deliver.
