There are three ways to search for product within the app:
- Using the Product Categories on the Shop page
- Searching for product using the Product Search field
- Using the barcode feature
Product Categories
You have the ability to create Categories of Products or Web Drill Downs within Eclipse to present to the user. These drill downs can be specific to the selected customer or global for all customers. If you tap on a product category in the list, another list of product categories will be presented or if you are the end of the drill a list of products will be presented. Please refer to the How do I create Drill Downs in Eclipse? article found in the Tech Tips section.
The presentation of the Product Categories and product results list is the same in both Android and Apple.
Product Results List
At the end of the drill, a list of products will be presented. The default sort of the list can be one of the following:
- Ordered list from the Product Family
- Default sort index of Product File (if the products come from a keyword search)
- Innovo default sort based on the combination of control files, Innovo OE Touch Sort Drill Search Results and Innovo OE Touch Default Product Sort (see the Innovo Control Files article in the Eclipse Settings section)
Each product cell will display the thumbnail image, product description, customer specific pricing, availability based on the customers' network of branches, and customer part number if exists. You can also add the product directly to your shopping cart without having to drill into see the Product Detail.
Adding to Cart
You can automatically add an item to the shopping cart from this screen. Note the quantity added to the cart is the sell pack quantity. You can change this quantity directly from the shopping cart. As you add items to your shopping cart, you will see a red badge on the cart icon increment in number. This number represents the total number of products in the cart, not quantity.
Product Search
You can also search for product by doing a manual product search. To do a manual product search, type in the search criteria in the Product Search bar at the top of the page. In Android, the Search field is displayed when you press on the Search Icon.
The manual product search can be done on the Home, Shop, and Quick Pad screens.
The app uses the same search function as Eclipse based on the search criteria entered. The following fields are used in building the list of product results:
- Product description
- Keywords
- UPC
- Catalog number
- Customer part number (if exists)
You can also search for a specific product using the internal Eclipse product Id, preceded by a dot (".").
The number of search results will be listed in the blue bar and will be sorted based on the default product sort as defined in the control file, Innovo OE Touch Default Product Sort. If blank, the app uses Product Description as the default sort.
Product Sort
To resort the results list, press on the sort icon and you will be presented with the following list:
- Most Popular (descending order based on hits)
- Description
- Description Descending
- Price High to Low
- Price Low to High
- Availability (descending available quantity)
- Brand Name by Description (brand name refers to price line)
Show More Results
Apple Only
If the number of products in the product results list is greater than 25, the app will display the first 25 products. Swipe up and a Loading... popup will briefly appear until the next 25 products display in the sorted list.
Barcode Scanning
There are three ways to scan a barcode:
- Use the barcode icon located to the right of any product search field (Apple) or accessed using the search icon (Android), which utilizes the device camera
- Use a Socket Mobile Bluetooth scanner https://www.socketmobile.com or Linea Pro scanner https://ipcmobile.com/products/ios-peripherals/ which are integrated into the app
- Use any 3rd party Bluetooth scanner
Notes:
- Linea Pro is only available for Apple
- When using a 3rd party Bluetooth scanner, the cursor must be in the product search field before scanning
By default, the app will try to search for the product by comparing the scan results to the UPC code and internal Eclipse product ID if preceded by a dot ".". There is a setting available in salesperson mode that can be enabled in app settings, "Scan as Search". If enabled, scanning a barcode will do the same matching logic as it does when doing a manual product search.
Android
Apple Tips & Tricks
We’ve added a couple of tricks to make your life easier while shopping for product. At any point as you scroll through the products, you can click on the status bar at the top (the status bar is where the time is displayed) and the page will scroll to the top of the results list. This is enabled in every screen that contains a table. Another trick is if you ever want to go back to the main drill down list you may do so by double tapping on the shop icon on the bottom bar. You can also use the back button at the top left-hand side of the screen to navigate back through your path.
