Generate Cycle Count Control File (Non-RF only)

This article describes how to create a Cycle Count Control File in Eclipse that will appear under the Cycle Count menu option in Location Touch.

Begin at the Generate Control File screen in Eclipse (F8-->F3-->G in Eterm).

  1. On the Count# or 'New' line, type NEW and press Enter. A new Control File will be started and the next available Count# will be shown.
  2. In the Title field, type Cycle Count xxxxxxx, where first letters of Cycle and Count are capitalized and xxxxxx is a description for this particular count.
  3. Enter the branch for this count.
  4. Determine what criteria will determine the products added to this count. In general, it is most common to specify by Price Line or Location. To specify the Price Lines used for this count, press Alt-L.

Note: The words Cycle Count with the first letter of each capitalized is required for the count to show up under the Cycle Count menu item in Location Touch.

By default, all Price Lines are shown, to clear the list and enter specific Price Lines, press Alt-C, then type Y to confirm and press Enter.

Next, type in a Price Line name and press Enter to add it to this count.

Once the Price Lines for this count have all been added, press Escape to save and return to the Generate Control File screen.

It is also possible to create the cycle count based on a specific product or products. To do so, enter the product(s) to count in the Product field. You can use the Multi hotkey to specify more than one.

Note: Most Cycle counts are configured using Price Line(s) or Locations, not specific product(s). Also, the Alt-S hotkey allows you to schedule Cycle Count Control Files.

Once you have specified either the Price Line(s) or Product(s) that will be counted, review the rest of the settings on the Generate Control File screen to further refine this cycle count. These are optional and not required to generate the cycle count control file. Then, press Alt-B to generate the control file.

Eclipse will send a message when the control file has been generated.

To review the products on the Cycle Count, navigate to the Physical Count Load-In screen (F8-->F3-->L in Eterm).

Type in the Count ID # or press F10 to select from a list. All products will be listed with a Ctrl # corresponding to their order in the Cycle Count.

In Location Touch, the Cycle Count menu item should now indicate the number of products to be counted as per the Cycle Count Control File that was just created. Note: Make sure the branch listed at the bottom right matches the branch specified in the Cycle Count Control File.
