Importing Customer Part Numbers

This article outlines the process of importing customer part numbers into Solar Eclipse.

Importing Customer Part Numbers using Solar

The Customer Part Number screen is located off of Customer Maintenance / File / Customer Part # Ctrl+3.

To import from a spreadsheet, go to Edit-->Import From Excel (Ctrl + I).

  • Import Type allows the option of creating a new customer part number (if one does not exist), creating and updating when a match is found, or updating only. The Update Only option will not create a new customer part number in Eclipse.
  • Start Column Import On Row defines the first row of data.
  • Use SpreadSheet Setup (Recommended)

In the Import Column section, the columns listed on the left must mirror the position of the columns in the spreadsheet. The following columns are required:

  • Product ID
  • Customer Part #
  • If min quantity imported, max quantity must be imported and vice versa.

Use the Add and Remove buttons to adjust the columns to match those that are in your spreadsheet.

Note: If a column exists in the file that you do not want to import, instead of changing the file you can insert a blank line into the Import Columns section. Edit-->Insert Blank Row.

To import the file, select File-->Import (Ctrl + I).

Note: Your import file should be tab-delimited and in .txt file format.

Here is the tab-delimited file used for this example. Note: The headers begin on line 5 and data begins on line 6.

After selecting the file, Eclipse will open the Excel Import Preview window.

Step1: Click the cells in the Select column to specify where the Column Header Row and Start Data Row begin.

Step2: Click the cells in the Header column to select the corresponding data element in Eclipse. Note: You can ignore setting the column element that was set to Blank Column as that column will not be imported.

Press OK to save the changes.

Select Yes to run the report. The system will display the imported items in the main customer part number screen.
