Vehicles

The Vehicles page is where you define the trucks you use for the Deliver app. Please note this is not a required feature. If you do not define trucks we will still track your deliveries and use the name of the device as the truck. If you want your driver to select the truck before each route, define those trucks here. All of the reporting on the summary page will be tracked to the selected truck.

Existing vehicles will appear in the table with their Name, Make, Model, Year, Odometer, State, and License late displayed. You can sort by each column (except for License Plate) by clicking on the bold  column header.  A  blue Up/Down arrow will appear letting you choose ascending/descending order.

Press the green cloud icon to export the vehicle information in a tab-delimited .csv file.

Press the grey cloud icon to import vehicle information from a tab-delimited .csv file (details below).

Check the box next to a truck's name and then press the red garbage can icon to delete it.

Add or Edit a Truck

Click on the name of any existing truck in the table to view further details or edit its information.

Click on the + button to add a new truck.

The truck details page includes additional details, including dimensions, weight, any hazardous materials carried onboard, etc. See screenshot below for full view of all available vehicle fields.

For existing trucks, if any changes or additions are needed, enter them in the relevant field and then press the green Save button at the top-right.

For a new truck, enter whatever information you want to record in the relevant fields and then press the green Save button at the top-right.

Required Fields

The following fields must but filled out before Saving:

  • Name
  • Make
  • Model
  • Year
  • License Plate
  • Home Branch

Once you click Save, a message confirming the vehicle has been saved will appear.

If no changes are needed, press the cancel button to return to the main vehicle listing.

Specifications (Required HERE Fields)

For HERE users, there are some additional fields that are required in order for the truck based routing to determine the best route for your vehicle. If your vehicle is classified as a Class 4 (or higher) vehicle, the following additional fields are required:

  • Height
  • Length
  • Width
  • Weight

Square Footage

For Route customers using either Google or HERE, you have the option to define the square footage of the vehicle floor space. If package dimensions are also defined on the Setting tab in Route, the percentage of the floor spaced used will display on the Route tab and on the Dispatch tab. More information on floor space can be found here.

Deliveries (Route Customers Only)

Stop Time Padding: If a stop time padding is set, it will be applied to all customers on the route/manifest if a stop time padding is not set on the Customer tab or the average stop time is not toggled on the Settings tab in Route.

Cost Per Mile: If a cost per mile amount is set, the value will be used when calculating the estimate and actual profitability of the manifest in Route. The Cost Per Mile hierarchy is:

  • Vehicle
  • Territories
  • Route Settings

More information on cost per a mile can be found here.

Exporting Vehicles

Click the green export icon and then choose the columns to export. Note all vehicle data can be exported, not just the fields that appear in the vehicles table. When exporting, you can re-arrange the column order as well as include or exclude headings.

Importing Vehicles

Importing vehicles adds new vehicles. It does not replace, update, or remove existing vehicle data.

Click on the grey import icon and then click the "Choose a CSV file" button to select the file to import.

The import file must be a tab-delimited CSV file and you must include the required field data (name, make, model, year, license plate, home branch). All other fields are optional. Headers will not be imported. After selecting your file, a preview is displayed and you can set the data type for each column prior to importing.

Use the dropdown choices for each column header to specify the data type. Then press the green upload button to import the vehicles.

Note: If you leave any columns without a data type, that column will not be imported.

Odometer

If you require your drivers to capture the odometer reading before each route, we will update the odometer reading here when the route has been completed.

Note: the updated odometer reading will be a calculated value based on the starting odometer reading and number of miles driven during the route.

To help the driver enter the correct odometer reading in the app, we use the value stored here to compare against what they entered and if it is off by more than 500 miles we will prompt the driver to have them verify the entry. The odometer value here can be overridden at any time.

The odometer reading for the route is also recorded on the Summary -> Deliveries  -> Completed Manifest table.

Truck vs. Device Name

If a truck is selected by the driver, we will use that truck name on the Dashboard, Live, and Summary tabs. If there are no vehicles assigned, we will continue to use the device name for display and reporting purposes.

Vehicles & the Deliver App

Once a vehicle has been defined for a branch, the driver is required to select a vehicle when starting a manifest. If you plan on creating your vehicles, it is best practice to create an entry for every vehicle.

  • Can you please include a screen capture of the Deliver app and where the driver is prompted for the vehicle and odometer? Trying to prepare for raining. Need to show drivers what it will look like.
